Coachella

Cut-off Denim Shorts. Sandals. Leather Boots. Sunglasses. Crochet/Lace Tops. Bangles. Bandeaus. Cross-body Bags. Floppy Hats. Crop Tops. Floral Print Shorts. Maxi Dresses. Head Wraps.

These are all part of the Coachella fashion.

I am LOVING this hippie-esque look right now. I just got the concert bra I ordered from Aerie in the mail today (it's the EXACT one that Kristen Stewart is wearing above) and I almost pee-d myself with excitement.
If you are a fan of these looks as well, check out the sites below.

Prepare Yourself

Being stuck at school for a few more weeks, I am a little limited in what I can do DIY wise. I left my sewing machine at home (not much room in the dorms) so I have to come up with stuff that requires minimal to no sewing.

I have already posted the two purple dresses that I plan on "editing" when I am reunited with my sewing machine. But I wanted to share what I am planning on creating as well as what I am currently making.

These are only a few of the many DIY ideas running through my mind. I'll post these as soon as I can. I also have some Crafts and Jewelry I'm completing so those will soon be posted for everyone to see.

Less than a month to graduation, summer, and being reunited with my sewing machine

The Story Behind MC

I thought I would share where the idea for "Moose Creations" came from. I'm sure it seems like a weird name for a blog. The simple explanation is that moose are my favorite animals. I can't explain why, I just have this weird fascination with them.

In an art class last semester, we learned how to make jewelry. We created our own jewelry lines and sold them on the final day. My jewelry line focused on moose, wolves, and bears. These pieces of jewelry were what jump started me into the world of design (clothing and jewelry) and blogging.

I hope after seeing these items you will gain a better idea of who I am.
Maybe this is right up your alley (and maybe not).
I'm thinking of making more and selling them on Etsy, so I will keep you posted on that idea.

Do You Chevron?

Lately I've been hearing about people using tape when painting their nails. I always wanted to do cool, fun designs but couldn't figure out how people did them. And if I could do it, I was only able to make my left hand look good whereas my left hand looked like a two year old painted it.
I wasn't completely sold on the whole tape idea but what did I have to lose?

First I gathered my supplies. I generally go without a base-coat
1. because I don't have one and
2. because my polish tends to chip sooner when I use one (which I hate)
Then I painted my nails the NYC In a New York Minute Sidewalkers color. I left them this color for the day. Mainly to make sure they were completely dry but also because I didn't really have time to do the next step.

The next day I took strips of tap and cut them into a zig-zag or chevron shape. I placed the pieces of tape on my nails with the zig-zag going down the middle of my nails. Be sure to press down the tape completely so no paint slips through.

Then I painted the part of my nails not covered in tape with Wet n Wild Megalast Haze of Love color. While still wet, I removed the tape from my nails. I used a toothpick to fix any mistakes.

Let dry and...voila.

Being the first time I have used tape I didn't think it went too bad. This was a quick way to spice up my normally plain nails. Next time I think I may do more--maybe some dots?

Service Center Finds

Made a trip to the local Service Center! Found these two dresses along with a shirt, skirt and top combo, a bit of fabric, and some zippers all for under $10 (I was definitely a happy camper) I have so many ideas on how I am going to make changes to these items I feel like my brain will explode! I can't wait until I am back with my sewing machine!
Aahhhh! Counting the days!! I'll be sure to post my refabs for everyone to see.

Plum/Maroon Floral Dress $2
Purple Dress $2

I know the pictures aren't the best quality. I left my camera at home so I had to make due with my computer's camera. I'll post better ones for the refabs!

End of Spring

Here are some images of what have been inspiring my outfits as well as my shopping lately.

Me

Hey! I'm Katie.
I love trying new things in fashion. I have recently started making jewelry and am planning on making some clothing soon. I spend so much time surfing the web (I admit to being a Pinterest addict) looking for all things fashion. I gain ideas from celebrities in magazines, characters on tv shows (I'm obsessed with Aria from Pretty Little Liars so Fashion of PLL comes in handy), and clothing stores online (F21 and ModCloth are some of my favorites). I love shopping at thrift stores and finding items others wouldn't normally consider.
This blog was created because I wanted a chance to share my personal style--the good and the bad--with the world. I am very new to the blogging scene so things will probably keep changing until I get it all figured out. Just bare with me and I'm sure we will have a great experience.
